Baptisms
We consistently teach that in baptism a believer surrenders their  life in faith and obedience to God, and that God "by the merits of Christ's blood, cleanses one from sin and truly changes the state of the person from an alien to a citizen of God's kingdom.

Jacksonville City Cemetery

City Cemetery The Jacksonville City Cemetery is maintained by the City of Jacksonville Parks and Recreation Department. Individual plots may be purchased at the Parks & Recreation office located within the Jacksonville Community Center.

The City Cemetery connects with the New Hope Baptist Church cemetery. The City of Jacksonville has no jurisdiction on burials in this area. "Family Plots" purchased by those no longer alive may still be utilized providing that the family member that wishes to use the plot can prove rightful ownership. Ownership must be provided in writing, notarized or by copy of deed in their possession. What is the cost to purchase a plot in the cemetery? The current rate is $750.00 per plot.

What is the size of a plot? Plots in the newer sections are 5ft x 10ft in size. What are the rules concerning the placement of headstones, walls, etc. on my plot? The plot/plots that you purchase may have short "walls" built around it/them. We have no specific rules governing the type of headstone that you wish to have. We do, however, ask that the Parks and Recreation Dept. be notified at least 24 hours prior to any work being done. We will mark the four corners of your property.

Please make sure that all work is done within the boundaries of your plot/plots. Any work that goes over the boundaries will be removed at the owners expense. Are vaults required for burial? At this time, no vault is required for burial but is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. This helps to ensure that sinking of the grave site is minimal.

Can cremains be buried in the cemetery? Yes, the cremains may be buried in a separate plot or they may be placed alongside a current burial if within the boundaries of the plot.

Who do we contact for weekend information? Contact the Jacksonville Community Center at 256-435-8115 for emergency burials. Please give as much information to the desk attendant as possible. They will contact the appropriate staff. That staff person will then call you to handle any arrangements that need to be made for the weekend. Who do we contact for general information concerning burials? All inquiries should be made between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday by calling the Jacksonville Parks & Recreation Department at 256-435-8115.

Community Service
  • Purpose & Process of Benevolence

The purpose of the Benevolence Fund is to provide financial aid to an individual who is in need on an urgent basis. The Benevolence Fund may not be applicable for cases which need long-term financial support. The church has the right to adjust or decline an applicant's request and may consider providing assistance other than monetary help.

Applicants are not granted financial assistance based on relationships between church leaders or being a significant church contributor. The church does not discriminate between applicants based upon race, color, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, geographic territory, or disability.

We are a proud supporter of the Jacksonville Christian Outreach Center. Click the image to discover what the outreach program provides.
